Carl’s book on Forgiveness, Giving up Your Right To Revenge, gives believers a direction directly from God’s heart through the forgiveness which was provided for us through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Here is an excerpt from a life changing book that can put us back on track as we model our lives to the Word of God and His ways.
Here is the introduction to Forgiveness.
1 INTRODUCTION / START WITH FORGIVENESS
WE NEED MORE FORGIVENESS! You want forgiveness – GIVE IT! You want wealth – GIVE IT! You want health – GIVE IT! It’s amazing when you hurt a little bit and you go and help somebody how quickly your body heals. Everything that God set in motion is set in motion by certain keys and one of them is FORGIVENESS! Today I want to talk about GIVING FORGIVENESS! This is not the time to point the finger at everyone else around you who has areas of their lives that needs healing. There’s too much of that already. But my job is to stir you up. Stir up that spirit of God in you so you will take some action to get yourself healed up so the devil won’t have so much legal access in your life. But if your pet doctrines and sacred cows get stirred up and all you’re after is a pat on the back, then this teaching is not for you. It’s time for the Body of Christ to get cleaned up. Psychology only goes so far. I have some wonderful Christian friends who are psychologists. Good people and they know how I feel about this. But for people to really get set free there are 2 things that must FIRST be dealt with. One is to get rid of the demons. And the other is to get rid of the unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is the sticky glue that allows demons to operate in our lives. You can’t shake them off if you’ve got unforgiveness in your heart. Brothers and sisters, unforgiveness kills. It’s deadly. Forgiveness is life. I’ll use myself and give you an example. Let’s say I did something to you that you’re having trouble forgiving me for. You may even have a right for revenge. But you know what forgiveness is? Giving up that right! Isn’t that amazing? And that even holds
true in a court of law. It’s too lengthy right now, but there are issues that if you’re going to sue somebody and you can prove you’ve forgiven them the case is pretty well over even before you get started. But unfortunately, our whole system and the system of the law is built on unforgiveness.
In the Old Testament, God was trying to take on unforgiving people. But the blood could only cover them. But thanks to the accomplished works of the Lord Jesus Christ who shed His perfect blood for us, we have so much more that a covering. When we ask for forgiveness it says in 1 John 1:9 that we are forgiven and the blood of Jesus Christ CLEANSES us from ALL unrighteousness!
I John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
There’s not even a stain of sin left! He did it for us. Isn’t that amazing? But we have a responsibility and we’ll be accountable before God in our life now and in eternity if we don’t forgive. It’s our job to forgive. If you want things to change in your life, start with forgiveness.
